General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Keeping your battery ready
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:50:31 PM »
I just want to make sure when I need it the next time it will be ready. I just purchased a new battery for the generator it was a Darcell UR1 285 cold amps at 32 and 230 cold amps at 0. My generator is a Frontier 7500 watts diesel.

Thanks for the info. I do have a battery tender jr that i can use. What about keeping the battery in a warm spot or leaving it in the building where it is cold?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Keeping your battery ready

This is topic but I would use it for this. I was wondering how you keep your generator battery ready for if the power was to go out? I have put in a transfer switch for my house and have a portable generator to the lights on and heat. Only thing is over the summer we lost power for 3 days and went to start and the battery was dead. Even tried to charge afterwards to be ready for the next time. So I am asking how do you guys keep your ready like where you keep it and if you trickle charge the battery? Thanks

We have had is easy so far and only used 1 1/2 cord of wood. Been trying different things with the stove like how much wood, which way to stack inside the stove and temps. Found that if i try to keep the wood to say a 8 to 10 hour burn time the stove works much better and using less wood with very little ashes and i mean very little.

Make sure you have the air at full max on the damper. That will beat it heat quick and shut down fast. Get you a infrared temp gauge and check the pipes inside the house. I have about 80 foot run and I lose maybe 1 or 2 degrees. I have checked my vents thur the house and they are 130 to 145 coming out of them.

I will agree with Slimjim. My family comes before anything no questions asked.. So take of your family and let us know if you need anything.

Make sure that you switch that open and shut the air supply doesn't get to dusty and sticks in the open position have had that to happen. Also like a couple said make sure the air flap is shut and not stuck open just a little. I have had a couple of these and the dealer told me good advice so here it is The stove is already boiling open the back door and check things back there first. Then turn your heat up to pull heat out of the stove. Then start to slowly add water back to the stove. First time I panic so bad that i broke my hand running to get a water hose so trust me it will be ok.
Yes, I must admit I panicked pretty good.  Very sound advice you give!

The flap had to be stuck open just a little!  After I cleaned it and vacuumed it, it has been fine.

I will add that I emailed my dealer Scott7 from here and he will not get back to me any more.  He is apparently just another fly by night and he can KMA!  You suck Scott !

Scott wasn't my dealer and he has helped me several times with anything that i have asked. Really don't think he would do that on purpose. Trust me I had a dealer from you know where and it wasn't good.

We get a lot of free wood from guys cutting down trees and have no place to to put it (we take it off their hands). Have so much that my youngest son gets out there and splits and few ricks to sale and makes ok money at it. But he has this one guy that want it a certain size and no piece of 4 inches in diameter and no bark. Guy buys 2 truck loads over the winter. My son does deliver it and stacks it inside a building for him but he pays him (be seating down for this) 250 a load!!! Takes my son about 3 hours each time he does this but hell that's great money.
