All is well again in my wood burning world!!   ;)

Welcome to the site!  Have you tried adding extra insulation to the furnace?

Shaver Furnace / Re: HWT - Help
« on: December 24, 2011, 11:38:08 AM »
I would disconnect power to the HWT and hook the pump to the Tstat on the tank.  I'm not familiar
with how an energy smart tank works but that would eliminate one possible problem.

It sounds to me the Ranco is not getting an accurate reading taped to the side
of the nipple.  I would bypass the Ranco and hook the pump to the Tstat on the
tank.  That is how I have my setup and it works fine.

Bill, I think I am missing something also.
If I understand this you have a pump for your Hot water
heater that is controlled by a Ranco which is circulating the
water to the furnace?  Sorry if I confused the matter.

In cold weather I usually load my 290 full, front to back, side to side, up and down.
I have never had a problem with blocking the chimney simply because it's hard to
stack it tight under the pipe plus it's near the rear of the furnace.
For me, I like to cut my wood about 24".

I have only had my water boil one time during the summer but I could tell by the "bubbling"
sound and excessive water/steam coming out the overflow.  As for the smoke,  get used to
it.

Lugnut..  I can't imagine it being anything else but a faulty valve/hat rack.

Was wondering if possible to add a spelling check for dummies like me?
Maybe you have one and I just overlooked it.   ;)

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Steam to H2o
« on: December 05, 2011, 06:34:27 PM »
I used 3/4 black iron between my radiators.  I used 3/4 pex to feed and return from
my radiators because It gave me more flexability running through my floor joists.
My shop is 100 x 50  with a second floor as an apartment so I had some pretty tricky
runs...You are correct the last radiator was not too warm but I am waiting for the temps
to drop in a few days and then I can adjust my furnace temp a little higher.  I do however
have a bigger pump on standby.
