General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: In trouble with the township

In Pennsylvania we can burn ANY KIND of household trash we want to: plastics, osb etc...
However you cannot burn wood in an unapproved furnace if purchased after April 2011.

Yeah ... have to meet EPA regs...  One of only 5 states....

Hope you are not in one of the 5 with the wrong burner.

That's why we bought the 3200, only one that met the new regs.

I have an E 3200...

Buildup was reduced when I changed the settings for the blowers to stoke the wood coals
longer and sooner then factory settings.  Same with water temp.

Water temp is at 185... if it drops by 7 degrees...(was set at 10) it kicks on to get back to 185.
That reduced my buildup considerably.

Fire Wood / Re: TYPE of CHAIN SAWS USED

I use a Husqvarna Rancher 55 20" Bar.

Works great, have owned for almost 2 years. Have cut down, upwards of a 100 trees; maples, oaks, locust, pines.

Have owned sears and other husqvarnas.

This is the best by far.  Highly recommend.

Central Boiler / wood splitting

Owners manual recommends splitting the wood...  I have been throwing in 36" logs from 2 - 8" thick.  Do i only have to split larger wood?

Central Boiler / Re: 6048 thermostatic valve?
« on: November 14, 2011, 07:26:05 PM »
The thermostatic valve is for protecting your furnace from condensation and corrosion.
My dealer NEGLECTED to install it, until I mentioned it.  THEN he installed it....  He mumbled something about condensation....I have no idea...  The furnace handbook states that it MUST BE INSTALLED!
or forget your 25 year warranty....
