« on: January 05, 2013, 01:10:17 PM »
Hello
Anyone have any experience hooking up a Amtrol Boiler Mate (WH-7L-DW) to there outdoor boiler for domestic hot water?
I have the instruction booklet and know how they would like you to hook it up, but I want to use it with
conjunction with my electric hot water heater. Any suggestion's, your thoughts?

Plumbing / Need a expert help! No Heat, pumping up hill !
« on: December 20, 2012, 02:36:03 PM »
Hello
   I need a expert plumber!!
I still have a problem with pump application on my boiler, the pumps I have used won’t move water to home, and the boiler water is 180 F. Pump is running, removed pump and impeller is turning when powered up, no air in system when pump was installed!
Boiler system sits below my home 22 feet. The primary loop is 1 inch pex supply and return, totals 110 feet. The primary loop goes from boiler to the house and the system is open not pressurized. The pumps I used was a Grunsdfos UP 2696 F, GPM & Head specs looks good but didn't work. Some one said the reason was that that pump only works with a pressurized system and my system is open? Does anyone out there have their boiler below their house like mine? If so how did you overcome the problem? What pump did you use and have you ran into other problems?
                  Thank You , Bob

Plumbing / Problem, No Heat !!
« on: December 18, 2012, 12:52:55 PM »
Problem, no heat to my house and the boiler is making hot water, but the water doesn’t get to the house hot were taking 50ft of run. Pump running pushing water uphill, secondary pump running but never gets hot! The forced air fan heats the coal, water hits 180 degrees than shuts off, the Grundfos pump UP 26-96 F with sufficient head & GPM  runs continually on a primary loop. Off the primary I have a secondary loop a smaller pump that feeds a manifold with three zones with manual shut off valves (they are open) feed hydronic registers in our small home. The open system reservoir that feeds back into the primary loop, if it gets to hot the the reservoir overflow dumps into a 55 gallon drum.. I tried to keep it simple, but I'm missing something here! HELP
The boiler I made myself and I use coal. The water tank is made out of a large propane tank and holds 170 gallons of water, the firebox 1/2 inch thick and is inside the propane tank that holds the water. I made shaker grates that are one inch and the boiler itself works great.. I need some expert advise here, any help would be appreciated, its cold here in Alaska!! Thanks
