General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / im on fire!!!!
« on: September 27, 2013, 03:50:50 PM »
First season w my new stove.... Heatmaster 5000. Been working hard on the install for the last month. Did the whole install by myself w guidance from Scott, rsi n Yoder. I tell ya I was intimidated when I started but as I progressed , it seemed to make sense . Today I fired up the stove n I tell ya , I am ear to ear smile. I couldn't be happier w the choice. I wished I had done this 8 yrs ago when we moved into our new house. Either way I'm saving money now!!!  ;D

Yea its a propane furnace that's running off just the r-wire n w-wire on the thermostat. Should I try the hook like u explained earlier rsi ? Or u think I might have to do a switch

Also Scott, researching the stove settings , sounds like 170 w a 10 degree differnce is a good place to start ? Should I keep blower 100% open too?

Ok thanks Scott it sounds like RSI is on to something that makes sense to me. Yea my set up is just a basement furnace n that's it . My thermostat is powered by batteries so sounds like I don't need c wire. I'll try that wiring set up today n let u guys know how it went. Thanks

I have searched n searched n can't find the same issue I have, so here goes... I'm ready to wire thermostat inside my house,i am going w a 2nd thermostat next to old stat. Research says... R- wire of old stat to r-wire of new stat , n then g-wire of old stat to w-wire of new stat. Using jumpers wies. I removed old stat n it runs off of 2 wires ... R-wire (red) and w-wire (white) and there were 3 others wires not being used. I went to the furnace n looked at circuit board n seen the other spots for wires , g being one of the spots where a wire can be connected. Would I hook up the g-wire at my furnace n run it to the w spot on my new stat?

Yea... The more and more research I do the easier it seems to be. I'm sure everyone on the forum would be glad , especially Scott to answer any questions I might have during installation. At this time I'm just waiting patiently for the stove to ship and taking care of my wood pile a lil at a time .  ;D

Ok thanks. If you could send a diagram w the stove with the plumbing , hot n cold lines valves n how to hook the hot water tank up I could probably do it myself if I absolutely had to. Thanks

Can anyone point me in the right direction for someone to.do my installation of my heatmaster 5000. I live in the western New York area , south of buffalo on the cattaraugus Indian reservation. I few places in New York I've talked to won't install it cuz they can get in trouble for it. Being a non EPA approved stove. Living on Indian land there laws don't apply here. If anyone has any suggestions , I'd greatly appreciate it.

I live on a Indian reservation where EPA n nys laws don't apply to us. In this case is a good thing in other instances can be a really bad thing.  This is the reason I am leaning towards a traditional boiler . Heatmaster 5000 to be more specific. Any input on that boiler would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone I am new to the forum n am going to purchase a owb in august. I am doing a lot of research n my head is spinning. a couple questions everyone might help me with... 1st I live in western new York n I have a 1900sq ft home newly built n well insulted... questions are... #1 being in new York I have seen that no one in new York can sell older style boilers, that they have to be epa approved. Are the epa approved boilers better than the not-epa approved boilers. I would be willing to go to ohio to purchase a woodmaster or another brand if that were the case. cost is almost double for epa approved. #2 does anyone in new York install non-epa approved boilers or service them still. Any info would be greatly appreciated thank you

new guy
