RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Re: Ridgewood owners how is your stove doing?
« on: March 07, 2018, 08:26:57 AM »
5th year with my 6000. First year went through a solenoid and an aquastat. No cracks and I’m very happy with it.
I can’t read the numbers on the aquastat and i wanna replace it, again, anyone know if the “Love Controller” on eBay will work? They are about 68$ shipped.

Well I was contemplating holding off for another week but since reading this I'm gonna fire her up tomorrow when I get off work! My 500 gallon propane tank is reading 5%, haven't filled it in 2 years and looks like I won't fill it until next May or when I shut down boiler

What about like a drip of super glue or lock tight, I gotta think that would really keep them on the spades, getting them off in the future might suck but better then waking up to 130 temps

I'm a new ridgewood owner this year. I woke up this morning to 160 water and the door shut. Looked at the leads and one was off. I snapped it back on, when I get home later I will do what slimjim said. Thanks
So far the aquastat went bad, now the leads come off. The saying you get what you pay for is by all means true. This stove is simple though and the repairs are very easy.

I had a problem with my aquastat doing weird up and down temps. They sent out a new aquastat and when I exchanged it I noticed the wiring in the back of the stat was pretty crappy. One of the legs was loose which could of been my problem and which could be your problem too

RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / New Ridgewood aquastat already bad
« on: October 08, 2014, 08:02:03 PM »
My aquastat was all over the place, the temp would read 180 then in front of my eyes drop to 150 forcing the door to open then immediately climb back up causing door to close ..I noticed this because I was outside and I could here that door open and close a bunch of times so I knew something wasn't right.
I called ridgewood on Saturday while it was happening and Tim determined it was a bad aquastat, he said a new one would be on the way shortly and for me to call him back and he would walk me through the set up. I received it today so kudos to Them for mailing it out immediately. It was a simple exchange, took one wire off and put one wire on the new one. I did notice when I pulled the old aquastat out from the sheet metal that a wire became loose and more or less fell out of the old aquastat...not sure if me pulling this out caused it or if maybe it was loose to begin with and that cause the sporatic up and down temps. Not sure, but Tim and ridgewood were great to me and helped me get back to normal burning in no time at all. Big thanks to Tim!

Yeah I keep mine closed also. First year for my ridgewood 6000, it's been fired up for a week now. The aquastat is bad and fluctuating up and down causing door to open and close. I'm kinda disappointed a little but the guys at ridgewood are great and they are mailing a new aquastat to me in the next day or so. It's supposed to be an easy fix.

Well she's been running great for around a week now, yesterday the aquastat was going crazy, reading 182, then drop to 160 causing door to open, then within seconds it would jump back to 180 and door would shut. It did this sporadically all day. I called out to ridgewood and Tim was great and he thinks it's the aquastat that is bad, they are shipping one out to me immediately. I hope it's an easy fix

Very nice, thanks guys. Also how often are you guys scraping the creosote off the inside of the door? I just fired my stove up 2 days ago with well seasoned dry oak and there's already some creosote. Probably not that big of a deal in guessing
