Check the temperature of your water leaving the boiler and compair to what the boiler controller reads.

After looking at your pictures of the reaction chamber, I'm assuming you removed the fire block that should be at the end of the reaction chamber to take a picture?

Update, discovered that the temperature sensors are not reading accurately... Stay tuned

I noticed the same issue this season (this is my 4th season), I burn oak, maple, ash, apple and American cherry, all burn hot if dry. I find that oak will produce 1400 degf reaction chamber temp and burn 1/4 cord to a fine dust that won't fill a 5 gal bucket.

I found that my water temperature sensor was reading 20 deg less than what the boiler reads. I checked the wiring from the controller to the sensor and all connections in between which all checked ok. After replacing the sensor the temp difference reduced to 15 deg.

I was running the boiler set point @ 185 with a 10 deg difference, with a twenty deg difference to actual water temperature I was barely making thermostatic valve temp at the low end.

I increased my set point to 195 ( max) and now I find that the boiler is burning the coals to dust, for the most part but I still have an issue with the temp sensor which I will take up with my dealer.

I would suggest checking the temperature of your water leaving the boiler and compare to what the boiler reads. Let me know if you have questions, I'm curious to learn what you find.

Did this issue ever get resolved? I ask as I just confirmed a similar issue with my boiler, the actual water temp is 15 degf less than what the boiler reads.

The issue has been resolved, the original controller and the replacement were the cause. A third controller rectified the issue.

Central Boiler / Re: Central Boiler E Classic 1450 will not start

Replaced the Firestar controller and boiler booted normally, stoked a fire and when I close the bypass door the audible alarm turns off but the display still shows A-3. The display alternates between A-3 and water temperature with the bypass door closed, beeper off.

The boiler does modulate through all three stages, if I press the up/down arrow keys the reaction temp reads but the display still alternates between A-3 and water temp.

The other issue is when I open the bypass door the blower fan does not start.

I"ve checked the bypass door switch and all wiring which appear to be working correctly.

Any ideas as to what else to check?

Central Boiler / Central Boiler E Classic 1450 will not start

When I powered my CB EC 1450 for the season two weeks ago the Firestar II booted normally but displayed the following:
HI then 1.43 ( this continues to repeat ) All three stage led were alternately flashing on and off

The fan will not start, however, when I put the Firestar into the diagnostic mode (menu item #7) the fan started and ran as well as each solenoid energized and the diagnostic completed.

I thought it may have been one of the two hi temp alarms and replaced the water sensor first, then the reaction chamber temp sensor but still have the same issue. I've contacted my dealer and CB Both were helpful but neither were technical enough to help.

Has anyone seen this issue and if so what is the resolution?

Any idea's would be much appreciated..

Has anyone burned BIO Bricks/Blocks in their OWB? If so, how did the boiler perform compaired to wood operation?

Thank you!
