Plumbing / Recommendations needed for Install of New Baseboard
« on: September 25, 2016, 07:50:18 AM »
Decided to finally replace my old baseboard as the fins were mangled on most and some were missing casing. I have had minor issues removing air in the past but have been able to work it out. I have pex coming out of the floor to tie into once I remove the old. Question is...should I use 90 degree copper fittings with bleeder valves to tie in? Should I use one at every section or one per zone? Any specific recommendations? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Fire Wood / Re: Grapple Load of Hardwood in Southern New Hampshire??

I successfully located a logger that is selling grapple loads of hardwood. I have a load being delivered on Sunday. We'll see how it looks then. $900 for 8 + cords.

Personally, I love having my OWB in my barn. It's on a concrete slab and is in its shell as well. I keep roughly 3-4 cords inside the barn as well. It's great in the winter when there's a foot of snow on the ground and beer that's being neglected in the fridge. Nonetheless, it's insured.

Evidently pilgrims weren't that bright were they. I could give her a chain saw and sit back and smoke a piece pipe, but picking her fingers off of the ground to put them on ice would ruin a perfectly good buzz!

Gotta love it. I spent many weekends cutting and hauling roughly 12-15 cords, 5 tons at a time and my wife says the other day that she did her fair share of "firewood duties" this past season. When I asked for clarification she was referring to the 1/2 cord that she stacked! I bit my tongue! She says she'd do more if I taught her to use a chainsaw...that will NEVER happen.

Yes I agree with the need to have extra parts on hand. I have had numerous items that I've had to replace this last week and of course I had to wait till the next business day to find them.
Just lit the fire...hopefully everything goes smoothly and it gets back up to temp and stays there.

Lowe's has a Honeywell L4006A in stock. I'm not sure if this is what I need. Currently I have a Honeywell L6006A on the OWB. Anybody have any insight? Thanks.

No aqua-stat is not digital. Ran some tests. Fan works...solenoid works...power is going to aqua-stat. So it looks as if the aqua-stat is the problem. Is this a special order item or can I get one at Home Depot etc.?
Should I buy a digital aquastat?

I need help troubleshooting my fan. I can't get it to kick on. It was working fine before the OWB overheated. Any suggestions where to start?

Looks as if the isolation valve between the pump and the OWB has a weeping leak. Is it possible to just replace just the recessed screw? See pics.

Yes I understand and agree. How would I go about being redundant with two relief valves? Is it as simple as putting in a tee where the existing valve is with a valve on each side?

Slim I agree but the compromised fittings needed to be replaced anyhow. Doesn't surprise me that they leaked. The pipe had multiple older compression fittings and it was at a funny angle so it was due to fail at some point. Lots of steam came out of the boiler for well over an hour after I discovered the issue.

It very well might have popped before that...should pop at 210 if I'm correct. But the heat kept rising b/c the pump failed and the temperature didn't start coming down until after I shoveled all of the coal out of the fire box.
