I was told years ago by an old timer that it does not matter. Cut firewood drys from the ends via the sievecells / tubes. When wet wood burns it releases moisture from the end although alittle steam does come from the sides. Dry wood changes color from the ends much more than the sides. I thought it made sense, do you?

I promised myself that I am going to finish cutting, spliting and stacking this spring all the logs left over.  There is about 1 1/2 tri axle loads left so I have been cutting alot. I have a 044 20" from the 90's I believe, and a MS 261 16" and a MS 460 24" within the last 2 years, I wanted to upgrade, so I thought.
Not taking anything away from the 2 MS's but I find myself going back to the 044 time after time, it just feels.... right.  Any thoughts, advise or experience, am I not crazy or just not willing to change.
