HeatMaster / Re: heatmaster 10,000
« on: April 28, 2015, 02:35:59 PM »
I just finished up my first heating season with my 10,000 and I love the thing. I heat roughly 3500 sq ft of living space, the house has two forced air furnaces (one for each floor). I also heat my dhw and a 36x30 garage that isn't insulated the best yet. I live in northern Iowa and the temps drop well below zero for long periods and I always got 12 hour burns with loading the stove 1/2-3/4 full.

I married a country girl, she grew up with livestock and helping her dad farm. She can back up a trailer about as good as I can
She has had actual chainsaw safety courses when she worked for a local landscaper (she has a horticulture degree), but I do all of the cutting/splitting and she does a lot of the hauling and stacking, she looks at it as good exercise. She is very good with the skid loader which our 4 year old loves to ride along!!!
I have been running the owb for three weeks now and she is bugging me to teach her what to do!!!

I have got to give all of the contributors on this site props for answering all the questions presented to them from newbies like myself. I have read countless hours on old posts on system design/do's and dont's/ troubleshooting and many other topics.
I even taught my plumber a thing or two when we were plumbing the sidearm in!!
With that said I have been running for just over three weeks heating 3500 sq. ft. living area, 1000 sq. ft. of garage and my dhw and love every minute of it. I have just over 250 ft. of 1" copper plumbed to two heat exchangers/plenum on separate floors, a turbo sidearm on water heater and 80,000 btu garage exchanger. This is all pushed by a Grundfos 26-99 mounted at the boiler. I easily get over 12 hours of burn, burning mostly oak/elm/hackberry mix.
The wife loves it also, constantly bumping the temp up when she is chilled.
Thanks again!!!!!

Thanks for all your inputs!!! It is awesome to hear different inputs on the install, I am just going off of a local dealer/installer ideas... Which has already tried to screw me on the cost of parts.....

Got the dirt work done around the pad just before everything started to freeze up! Had plans on building a 16x18 shed over the main pad but I doubt the posts will get in before the frost gets to deep.
Now just to get the indoor stuff done and fire it up!!

I should've stated that I have my insulated pipe in the ground already, one run from the boiler to the house. I only ran one because in the near future I want to run a line to my shed.
So should I split my flow in the basement meaning run one loop to sidearm and downstairs hx and one loop to the upstairs hx and garage and return both loops back to the return line to the boiler?
btw... Your videos on youtube were very helpful

Awesome site here, I have found a lot useful tips here!!
Here is my system I am designing now. Heatmaster 10,000E, 3,500 sf house
80 foot run of rehau insulpex 32 mm to basement hx on furnace, turbo siphon sidearm, upstairs hx on furnace, 100 btu unit in garage and back to boiler; ran in series in that order. Might be 250' - 300' of 1" pex and copper inside. Looking at the 26-99 pump mounted at the boiler.
Any suggestions or does this sound resonable?

Finally on and a big thanks to Snoopy_Snood for manually activating my account and golffanman for being the middle man between us!!
Really enjoying this site so far and I know I will have many questions with my install.
