« on: January 06, 2016, 07:00:16 AM »

General Discussion / Re: Better get things in order here in the Northeast

Well the shoreline of Ct is getting another 4-6 inches today. Here we go again. Can't wait for the melt of spring to get here.
Project for this year is going to be finishing the roof on the wood shed. I have had enough of digging through the snow to find my wood pile.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Do People Really Burn Straight Trash in Boilers?
« on: February 16, 2015, 08:13:12 AM »
Most problems Ive seen with these boilers are wet wood, burning trash and other stuff your not suppose to put in there.
I know of a guy in CT that burns hay bales during the summer, but he is on a farm so there are no neighbors to piss off.
By running them properly they should not be a problem
But when you put in trash, tires etc anything can happen...

Central Boiler / Re: What's Next??
« on: February 14, 2015, 09:43:31 AM »
I've been running a 5036 since 2008 with almost no problems. I changed out a circulator pump one in 2013 but that was it. I run mine from October to April and have done almost no maintenance on it except cleaning out the fire box twice a season.
Sorry you had these troubles.

Central Boiler / Re: Dampener solenoid making a buzzing sound
« on: January 12, 2015, 05:20:08 AM »
They all vibrate or buzz every once in a while. Take the front cover on the door off and spray a little WD40 on the pivot points of the solenoid and damper door. This will help in most cases . My 5036 does this every once in a while. No big deal other than being annoying to listen to.

Fire Wood / Re: Knots in firewood

Have to agree, toss it in as it all will burn and you dont have to screw with the knots.
