Central Boiler / Re: plate vs. tube hx,which is better and why?
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:08:25 PM »
Plate, tube,, not much difference. I think it would be preference as to which you prefer. I was a boiler tech in the Navy for 6 years and worked on many shell and tube heat exchangers. The ones I worked on were 600 psi superheated and saturated steam main propulsion systems. if a tube would become compromised you can plug the tube. I do not know if you could plug a faulty plate. I would have no problem using a shell and tube hear exchanger.

Central Boiler / Re: Was Wondering About Warranty On CB Units...

CB may have an A+ rating but that is because they pay to maintain an accreditation. Aqua therm has 6 complaints filed within last 36 months, they are not registered with he BBB, and they have a rating of A-. Don't just look at the rating look at the types and number of complaints. Companies not registered with BBB and who have never had a complaint filed with the BBB are not even listed, does that mean they are not worth considering. Just information to take into consideration when researching.

Before you buy you should check the BBB website. Central Boiler has numerous complaints filed within last 36 months. Mostly for product, warranty, and service issues.
