Need help with Woodmaster 4400 not getting air
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:25:29 PM »

My woodmaster is having a hard time burning.  I am using seasoned wood mixed with some green.  Ive cleaned everything checked everything and nothibg helped .  I think the frsh air is escaping before hittng the fire.  I put a cinder block over tje chimney to slow the movement of air and the fire went off and got good and hot.  What could be causing this?  What can i do more permenent than a cinder block on the chimney?

If you blocked the chimney it should have practically put it out, if air can't get out it can't come in

I don't understand

Is the solenoid working? Woodmaster has the fan on the door doesn't it? If you open the door with it running is much air blowing out of the door?

I only blocked off 3/4 of the chimney.  Just enough to restrict the air.  The fan is on the door and the flapper is working properly.  When the chimney was open the air seemedbto heat up raise and escape out the chimney before it could hit the fire.  Now with the block in place the fire gets going and there seems to be back preassure keepibg the air in the box long enough to fire

Well i went from 8 hour burns to 20 hour burns by blocking the air flow through the chimney.  That cinder block os my new best friend.  I love sleeping through the night and not having to do 4am boiler checks.

Does it have a smoke bypass rod? If so, is that working? Did you try adjusting the air flow? Probably a plate between the fan and blower.
