Hey guys I just wanted to say I went to two different people's houses yesterday to check out their systems. It seems to me they know very little about either one of their systems both guys only had one pump single speed and running at what I think is a low temp like 150 160 both said. Neither one knew about the temp difference from and to the boiler. I wish I knew more so I could help them, I told them about the website here and neither of them know how to work a computer haha I hope I get up and running for next winter and I can show them a pro install which I hope to do. I know they could be running better and more efficient. Just posting to post I'm bored

 You are doing it right as far as I can see, research, read and go look at different setups and boilers. If I were you I would be checking craigslist and others for used units, not all the boilers are on there because of problems with operation, lots of folks get one and find it's not for them, some here will tell you not to buy used, if you can find one I would see if it's possible to fill it with water, let it set for a few days and do research on that model. That's only IMHO.

I totally agree with you I have been looking for months Craig's list is something I troll a few times a day.  The Ridgewood looks like a decent option for me the 6000 makes good sense and it's affordable. Under 4k and it's new so that's kinda nice, I have found outdoor units used on CL for more than that price and 5 years old plus, I don't know, from what I'm slowly gathering the Ridgewood 6000 would be an affordable option for me. So far I'm leaning in that direction

ffbare - Great news on getting a OWF for next winter.  Seeing your post that you were bored, maybe you should be cutting firewood so it will be dry for next season.  That will definitely keep you from being bored.

Jerkash to be completely honest my neighbor, his son and I made up a few chords yesterday morning. It's almost funny how much you can make with the help of 2 skid loaders 3 guys and a splitter. I personally have maybe 4 chords that have been cut and split for 4 years or so. I also last fall have maybe 10 chords or wood ready to split in my yard but it's under 2 feet of snow. I don't want to touch it yet because after I split it I only wanna move it one more time.  I'm not 100 percent on where I want my stove outside. So after I figure that out I will get on i promise.

Good for you and all the equipment and neighbors make it much easier.  I have a JD Backhoe that I use more for firewood than anything else.  One of those pieces of equipment you don't know how you ever did without it!

I said in a different post pretty much all my neighbors burn wood we all have indoor wood stoves.  I want to be the first in our little area to have an owb. We are all on the same page  when it comes to making wood I love my neighbors.
