Weekend Project ::)
« on: April 07, 2014, 07:36:44 AM »

So a few weeks, maybe month back, my dad got one of his loggin buddies to sell him some "Firewood", he bought by the semi load about 20 "PULP WOOD" cords (2x semi loads) - 1st mixed Poplar, white birch, and some soft Maple; 2nd load all ASH.

So what did we do this weekend, blocked and split till our arms about fell off; old man has two surgically repair rotator cuffs, an artificial hip and double carpal tunnel surgery (by age 57); worked up between 3 and 6 cords (I am horrible and estimating, unless we are loading the duallie).  My wife and mother come out in the afternoon on Sunday and says, it doesn't look like you made much progress!   :o THANKS for the encouragement!!!  Maybe next January they will be more appreciative.

Gotta love it. I spent many weekends cutting and hauling roughly 12-15 cords, 5 tons at a time and my wife says the other day that she did her fair share of "firewood duties" this past season. When I asked for clarification she was referring to the 1/2 cord that she stacked! I bit my tongue! She says she'd do more if I taught her to use a chainsaw...that will NEVER happen.

A better deal would be that she cut, stack and feed the boiler, you drink beer and watch, I haven't been able to talk my wife into that yet, give it a try, let me know how it works

Evidently pilgrims weren't that bright were they. I could give her a chain saw and sit back and smoke a piece pipe, but picking her fingers off of the ground to put them on ice would ruin a perfectly good buzz!
