A Buddy of mine works in the Rochester NH area quite often and does sell tree length, PM me your contact info and I'll pass it on, his name is Jake, He likes cash with no headaches from home owners as the mill is easy to deal with and most home owners are not

Even though I may have buildings full of hay, there is certain people or groups I won't sell to as they have proven themselves to be a hemorrhoid waiting to happen. And IF I do, cash only, their checks tend to bounce more often than not.

The issues I hear are, chasing money, property damage, delays moving cars and short 1/2 cord on a 12 cord load! Remember the mills have none of these issues.

Although I'm still waiting to hear from my supplier (it's been almost 3 weeks since I called him) he's always delivered more than what I have paid for.  He guarantee's an 11 cord load but has always delivered around 12 to 13 and he's never charged me for the extra.  I think it's that I pay him in cash so he knows he doesn't have to worry whether the check is good or not.  I'll be calling him again next week to see what's going on.  Roger

Roger,  I am curious what kind of wood does your man deliver in grapple loads?  How long are the pieces?  Don

He's always provided me with a nice mix of hardwood.  Last year it was a lot of maple, oak and birch with some white birch thrown in.  One royal PITA elm that was about 18 inches diameter.  Man was that thing ever a pain to split.  Not only was it very heavy but the fibers were some twisted.  The lengths varied but generally anyway from 8 feet to 12 feet long.  Roger

The mills are paying that's why!! Guarantee money!

That is true as well, put yourself in the loggers position, how many times does the logger have to chase his money for private sales, I can tell you first hand, way to many, that is profit lost! My suggestion is to get a business relationship going with a few loggers that know you and stick with them, make it easy for them to turn their profit and they will be sure you get the supply you need

I successfully located a logger that is selling grapple loads of hardwood. I have a load being delivered on Sunday. We'll see how it looks then. $900 for 8 + cords.
