Fixars x27 ax
« on: December 13, 2014, 02:50:59 PM »

Anyone else have this? I got it a few weeks ago and so far split 3 cord for the wife and just because it was fun.

This ax is great and faster than my splitter, plus a better workout.

I split a 24 inch diameter by 3 foot long piece of ash in 4 pieces with 5 swings.

Love this thing.

I bought one over a year ago and haven't used it yet, I think I even know where it is.

One of the best tools I have ever used. Keep it sharp and split on a block. YouTube it and watch all the demonstrations. Go to arboristsite.com and search for Fiskars.

Love it. Best investment, besides the OWB, so far. Recommend it to everyone I discuss cutting wood.

I have one and love it. How do you sharpen it and how often?  Much faster then hydrolic splitter.

I got the 10 dollar sharpener off Amazon at the same time. Works great.

I file, then hone. Afriend just got the sharpener and I ran it over my sharp X27 expecting to come up duller than when I  started. Boy was I wrong. Getting a sharpener tomorrow. TSC has them locally for <$11. GET ONE! Works great on knives too!

Just bought one. Not a bad splitter and very user friendly, but I don't think it's everything it's cracked up to be. Just as with a maul, when you have wood without knots, its easy splitting.....with knots, still a pain in the ass. Great warranty tho....
