Well My fan in my door on my woodmaster 434 finally died at 12 years old, so I too it off and wow I bet ther was over a gallon of soot and ash/ creasole inside the door took me a hour with scraper and shop vac to clean it out.. never knew it would plug up inside the door!!

You got 12 years out of that fan without any maintenance that's pretty good.

I clean mine with a toothbrush in May and add some machine oil to the lil motor ,,,,maybe I'll get 24 years...

Couple small, funny shaped, holes, in the fan motor case.
Don't really look like oil holes,,, but yep

I think my brushes went. I took the plate that the fan housing bolts to off, cleaned it all up nice. reinstalled the new fan assy. I think Im going to make it a every 2 year part of my maintenance, as soon as it warms up i plan to drain and back flush the system too. I think my exchanger is getting plugged. . this cold weather has been rough on the wood. need to keep everything in check for sure!

I was told to drain mine and replace the water and conditioner every year.
[by guy that sells conditioner]

Anyway, it made sense to me.
I know with auto antifreeze, the reason ya change it every 5 years, is, the inhibitors break down, not the actual antifreeze.

Don't know if draining it all the time might lead to a little surface rust, while it IS empty???
Don't know about water to air exchanger cleaning, but glad I 86'd the plate xch on the DHW.
My hard water would of wreaked havoc on that, every 2or 3 years.
