Radiant????
« on: December 22, 2014, 06:05:41 PM »

Had the day off today, looking over the garage system.   I have radiant in the floor and a water-to-air exchanger hanging on the wall for backup I guess. Thinking if I turn down the radiant to say 80 and have the exchanger come on when call for heat I might use a little less wood?

Good thing I need to go to work tomorrow.

Radiant is running at 120 now. I like too keep it 68 to 70 my work materials are much better to use when warm. I had a plan to rock the ceiling this past summer, didn't happen. Don't want to rush things.

Garage is well insulated.

The only thing you gain by dropping the water temperature; is a more consistant floor temperature, but you will be increasing your calls for heat because the lower water temps will not transfer as much energy!

I would leave water temp at 120F, I do not think you will see enough energy saving to really matter
