Ayuh,....    I just did my door gasket last week,....

I stripped off the old one, cleaned the surfaces with a wire brush on my angle grinder, slathered a big ole bead of hi-temp silicone 'round it, pushed/ placed the new 3/4" rope into place, ran a strip of maskin' tape 'round it to hold it there, 'n closed the door,...

Next day, I opened the door, 'n everything stayed in place, so I loaded 'er up for another day, 'n closed the door again,...
'bout 3 or 4 days later, I got sick of the green tape, so I gently pulled it off, 'n tossed it into the fire,....

I oughta be Good, for another year or three now,....

I get the Rutland 3/4" door rope at the local hardware store, 'n hi-temp silicone at my local auto parts house,....

Replaced mine last June.
Dealer rope and high heat flat black paint, gobbed into the groove first.
Put the rope in and shut the door for 4 months.
Let you know mid winter, but holding up so far.

Replaced my rope gasket last week and went over top with hi temp  and so far it's working nice. Nothing sticks to it anymore and it seals perfect.
