Scott,  Ok i went out pulled cover off with control in it and wiggled a few wires and it came on.  Im wondering if i got some corrosion on the spades.  All the wires look great.  Looks like a couple relays inside there too.  It is pouring rain outside and dark so i wasnt going to mess around anymore tonight with it.  Ill try to clean all the spades off in the morning.  I hope it runs all night without problems.  Could a relay be going bad and causing this?  all other power is working fine, just the readout loses power, then because thats not working damper wont come on.... anyways working now.  any feedback or problems you have seen in the past would be great to know.

Besides this I love the Empyre..  hardly uses any wood and is a great built unit.  Im very impressed.  I will never buy anything but a Empyre.  this is a older unit so i can burn wet wood in it.. I burn both wet and dry.. she dont care what you feed it.  Im glad i got your contact,  i really didnt have a outlet for parts, being I bought the stove used.  Again its a great unit.  Just a little confused right now why it did what it did with the contol..  I hate it when you cant find a solid root cause for a problem..Look forward to hearing back... Thanks Matt

Scott,
Don't the Empyres use a Love controller? They're made in Michigan city Indiana I believe.

Marty,  How do you like your Portage?  My father in law is tring to decide between a Empyre or a portage...  I been doing alot of reading seems like they are a very good unit.  Hows wood consumption?  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

Scott, still seems to be running, but when it shuts of at 180( which is my high limit temp set) the screen goes to 00,01,02,03...etc. basically starts counting the minutes.  if i press the button it goes away and shows my boiler temp.  And keep in mind the stove is still working as it should,  off at 180 and on at 170.  so function wise it seems to be working fine,  but its never done this before.  I dont have a book so im sure there are other settings on this controller but i have no idea how to get to them or program it.  Sreen does look like its got moisture in it, but who knows.  i just want it to fnction like normal. It has always had the boiler temp showing all the time, and never went to this other screen when it shut off when it got to temp.  Im thinking i should just get a new controller and clean all these wire connectors.  sorry to keep rambling on but im quite frustrated right now. >:(

Yea maybe pull it out and see if there is any corossion on anything.  Check for loose wires n such, may be that it's something simple.

Yep, they do use the love controller.

P&M are really good units as well.

Yea..  Sounds like it's Got s moisture issue if you can see it in the screen.

Empyre builds a great product.

As far as electronics, they are what they are ya know, sometimes you have them fail.  If it keeps working correctly that's great, I'd still like to have one on the shelf in case tho

could the relays be causing it?  How much for new controller and relays and a new damper lifter?

Yes the stove works great. This is first problem i have ever had

one other question when i opened up the front cover there are two very small red wires in there that look like they been wrapped up from the factory.  do you know what those may be for?  optional something i dont have?  just wondering.  looks like they never been hooked up so it has nothing to do with my current issue

I'm not sure..  I'll check my stoves on the lot as I just got my first Empyre order.  I've done this for several years but just recently got with Empyre.  Did a lot of research and near everything I heard was positive.

I'll get with you on pricing on those parts tomorrow, I'll send you a private message.

But you have the 304 stainless model correct?

I never was a big fan of it because of issues I seem with hardy, but there's is only 16 ga, the empyre is built like a tank compared to those
