I am looking at getting an OWB to get me off oil and I am leaning towards the Central Boiler (there is a dealer less that 10 miles from my house) but Heatmor may also be an option.  Are there any other brands I should be looking at?  BTW I burn ~750 gal of oil per year for heat and hot water.  My 1000 sq ft basement is unfinished but plan on using the boiler to heat that as well (currently no heat down there) so I am assuming I would need a lot more oil if I stuck with the boiler I have now. Any input for brands or models would be helpful.

I would also be looking at empyre as they have more EPA phase 2 units approved for your state than anyone else.

Are  you any where near Mercer Pa. I know  of a great Centeral Boiler dealer.

Sounds like a Central Boiler Eclassic 1450 would be a great option for you. I love my E2400. Now almost through my 3rd season with it. Hopefully spring shows up soon! Saved me a ton of propane money so far!

may want to look  into a thermal-control boiler....inside model you would get radiant heat off boiler heating all of down stairs with that plus get the hot water from it to heat upstairs and so on....? www.nationalstoveworks.com  they are built in the next state over Cobleskill ,ny they have a 20 year nonprorated warranty and they are a pressurized system.....I have owners personal cell number if you would like to call and ask him ?'s that you may have.... top notch boilers and top notch people work there also....

Hey fellow future burner, I live in Pa. and I went with the earth mountain man 500 and have no regrets. I didn't want a gasser and found out if the furnace has grates and ash door it can be used as a coal burner and in Pa. theres no EPA emissions on a coal burner or if the furnace is 350,000 btu's that also makes it exempt and would be legal in many states. Also on earth outdoor wood furnace web site they have a EPA Phase 2 furnace called Klear Sky 400 they just came out with. I have no idea of it but all I know is that if its built like there other furnaces, like the mountain man 500 I have it should last along time as I hope mine does. There built like a tank over all weight at 2300 lbs and easy to operate.
