My journey intalling insulated lines!
« on: July 28, 2013, 07:27:37 PM »

Well I finally installed my new insulated lines and let me tell you what a pain in the acc it was!!! If you see the one pic with the view of inside the pipe you can see how far I got it fed threw and and just would not budge anymore, literally! When they put the orginal lines in all they did was wrap them in plain jane foam wrap, well when they did that it pulled off the lines and got balled up in the pipe hence the reason I couldn't feed the new ones in. Well I couldnt figure out where the foam was balled up so as you can see I started digging to find the clog, It was right in the elbow by the stove. Go figure!!!!! The other side was just fine all the foam came out. Well I started this project at 11am and finished at 2am!! In that elbow I pulled out 6pcs of 10ft foam. Didnt think that much foam could get wedged in a 6" tile. Not a very fun Saturday into Sunday let me tell you.

Now I need to get someone here to make sure I got all my lines plumbed correctly before I prime everything and fire the stove up.

Will it do harm to my pumps if air is in the lines? What im thinking I have to do is open all my valves on the stove and let water get back into the lines then turn pumps on, cant think of any other way. I just dont want to burn my pumps up.

Does ur pumps have flat bleeder screws in the ends?  If so loosen them before turning them on, let them run while water and air spits around the screw for a minute then tighten them.

If you have a valve on the return side, after you tighten the screw close the return valve, let the pump build up pressure 3-5 seconds and then release the return as quickly as possible, repeat 3-5 times until you no longer hear air rushing back to the stove

I think the return valve should be on the stove correct?

If you were to T into your wood boiler lines with a feed line from your domestic water and ball valves on both sides of the T then you can use your domestic, pressurized water to purge all the air from the wood boiler lines and use it to fill the boiler from inside your home

I take it you mean my pex? The domestic water does tie in with my OWB and simply just shuts each system off with ball valves. Im not sure if I can tackle that. Do any of you know someone in the NE PA on this forum that could come take a look over my system? I always like the second opinion. Doesnt seem like some of the places I called that have any knowledge of OWB seem to "know" what they are looking at. I will pay for fuel cost.

Well the furnace guy I have been trying to get ahold of just contacted me. He is the one who installed and did all the maintance when my grandparents lived here. He is getting me new grates, backup pump and door seals and coming next week to inspect it. Im still learning this stuff and dont want to jepordize my stove for my stupidity.
