Plate HX hook up

Hello to all!  I am looking for some guidance on hooking up my 20 plate HX for my electric hot water heater.  I have read several post on this site, but want to ensure that I am correct.  From the OWB I have one pump, I am only running about 50' to the house.  I will be hooking two appliances up in series.  First the Plate HX for the hot water heater.  4 ports on the HX bottom port left side is OWB in (A1):  top port (A2) left side return or to the next appliance, in my case it will be continuing on to the furnace in the attic.  Bottom port right side (B1) would go to the cold water in on the hot water heater??? with the hot water out from the water heater reaming the same????:  Top port right side (B2) is where I would move the old cold water in from the hot water heater to?????  Is this right???   I would prefer not to install a mixing valve, but want to make sure that this will work and is correct.

 Welcome mwvwaw, I hooked up my 20 plate hx this way. Owb supply and return on same side ( you can decide which side works for your location) and on the other ports I made sure my flow was opposite the Owb. I installed on the cold water IN line to the hot water tank and use tank as a hot water storage. The oil burner is still on at the setting it always was and has not come on since I fired up the Owb and it is only a 30 gallon tank. Also I did install mixing valve to prevent scalding anyone and keep local inspector happy.

Is this an electric tank heater or tankless (i.e. demand)?  If its a demand heater, how you explained is how mine is set up and I use the demand as a supplement if the boiler HX does not heat it enough.  I ended up shutting off the electric heater this year because I have never had problem with the OWB keeping up with all the on demand heated water that I have needed.  I have a 30 plate HX though.  You do want to be sure and counter flow thru your HX, i.e. boiler water in is on the same end as potable water out on the HX.  I did install a mixing valve since I have kids.  If you have codes, they may require it too?

If its a tank heater, I will let someone else weigh in!
