Have my mind made up (almost) about pulling the trigger on a P & M Ultimizer.  I have read every post I could find here about them.  Anything new?  Can you post pics of your set-up?  Are you pleased with the operation of the unit?  Any issues?  Seems like P & M is responsive to issues, is that your experience?  Would you buy your unit if you had the chance to do it over again?  Thanks in advance.  You know the excitement of a new venture.

Where do you live BillsWS? Are you able to use non gassers? I have a BL 28-40 that's been running since early Dec and have had no problems or issues with the furnace. ( zip,zero,nada) I am burning maple that has only been seasoned 6 months without issue. I did split it to try to dry it as much as possible though. I get 12 hour burns but only put enough wood in to get the 12 hours because it works for me. Currently my stove is oversized and underworked ( sorry slimjim) but was purchased with future plans in mind. The way this stove works I have absolutely no problem recommending one to anyone and I wish I could have done it sooner ( but they didn't make the BL until this year).

Hello Crow, I am in the U.P. of Michigan.  Lots of very cold temps this year.  Thanks for the reply Crow and sceptre74. Where are you located Crow?

Just watch for condensation forming in the last pass of the heat exchanger with the small load on it Crow and you will be fine.

BillsWS, I am in Eastern Ontario and we have had colder temps this year also but the stove loves it.
Slim, I think it is ok the way it is running. Anytime I clean out the heat exchanger only get dust and soot out of it - nothing damp. I know more load on it would be better...............working on that.

I met a couple of slightly overweight old hippies up there 2 years ago that had a 5 horsepower engine driving a generator, I got along with them very well and would like very much to get them to come to our Alternative energy row @ fryburg fair next year

Hey billws,well I put a 34/44 into service 3 weeks ago. No issues with the 34/44. It works unbelievably well, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit or portage and Maine. I had a issue with a pump. They replaced it immediately. No questions, just handled it. All I can say is that  10 years ago this. May we bought this house. Its cold here  from September to June.  ( mountains of northern New Mexico).This is the 1st time the entire house, all 4000 sq ft of it has been warm. Best part I think is that the 34/44 comes up to temp fast. Initial start up went from a water temp of 44 degrees to 185* in bout 90 minutes. Then it holds its temp for a very long time. Even with the fire out. Last thing, Brian has treated me fairly and honestly. In these times  what more can you ask for? Hope you get the BL of your choice, you won't regret it.  But I'll bet your fuel delivery guy will.    Best of luck

I installed a 3444 in Nov 2013 it has been working great no issues at all. I made the deal with brian in the spring and picked it up at the factory in piney manitoba in august. We built on a acerage this summer I installed gas furnace but since I fired the boiler the gas has been shut off . We have had several days at -40 c.The boiler has work flawless.   Brian and Ruth have been great to deal with the factory was really cool to see very modern and one huge place, very clean as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit.  Very very happy.

I just put a down payment on a BL 3444.  According to Murphy's Law, you'll now start seeing all kinds of posts about how they suck, fail, fall apart, and rust to pieces!

I have a 34/44,  its only been going for  about  3 weeks,, its flawless, you made the right choice, I've read that the 34/44 is a heavily upgraded ml 36. Those are solid units. It was my first choice until saw the 34/44. I have mostly pine to choose from, the only hard pine is loaded with pitch, basically fat wood. But with just pine and about   1/4   fill, i get  about 8 hour burn times, at bout  8- 10 degrees night temps. You made the best choice, if  there is a problem these guys  here will figure it out.  Congratulations on  your owb
