Other alternative sources
« on: February 19, 2014, 01:48:17 PM »

Being that we are all leaning toward alternative heating sources, and some have posted that they are into other energy producing endeavors, does anyone have dealings with Missouri Wind and Solar?  I have been looking at a wind turbine and adding some solar panels in the future, and came accross these guys in Missouri that seem to have good products reasonable.  Made in USA and they seem to have their head on straight.  Any one have any interaction with MWAS?  I only ask because I researched Wood Doctor and bought there too, and we all see where that went.  So, I am trying to do more in depth research before shelling out more big money.

I personally know nothing about them but my experience with wind here in the northeast is that the payback is way out there, Solar is coming along slowly but can be a good deal if it is well thought out and the govt gets out of the way

they are putting them big wind towers up in my area but they say they only run at about 30 percent of the plated output

scott has (and i believe sells) solar so he could inform you of sizes and prices likley.

i have a 10 KW an hour system, it produces on average somewhere around 20,000 to 22,000 KWH yearly (southwestern ontario canada)  depending on sun hours it can produce from only a few KWH per day to (i think my highest was  about) 130 KWH

I have not fully figured out the payback, but the tax lady said there is a 30% payback with no cap up thru 2016 on wind and solar here in the USA.  She said that it would not pay past 0 tax paid in, being if my tax liability is low I would not get the full 30%.  But if my math is even near correct, it could mean around $1200 - $1800 more in refund the next few years and help lower my electric bill.  I think with a 60' mast, where I live, I could use it to at least half of its potential and maybe even put back to the grid once in a while.  And fully get the neighbors talking.  I am not so dumb this year with the OWB.  Fuel oil and propane skyrocketed, and I still have 45% of my original tank from August 2010.

I would like to move on something before the regulators put a law in place to stop me from saving MY money.  We all hear the stories of the anti-OWB movement, I think the windmill will be next because it is eye pollution

OK, i'm probably going to make some enemies her but this is how I feel and I'm sorry if I offend anybody but here I go. In my opinion any industry should be able to succeed without government subsidies, this is what is wrong with this country today, Govt. gets involved by stealing money from one group of people to give it to another group rather they are deserving or not, this makes them look good and allows them to dictate to the inventors how they build and what research and development direction they should pursue. Any grants ' subsidies or tax refunds are simply a hoax specifically designed to get somebody elected, I as a LIBERTARIAN do not subscribe to their legalized theft and I believe that the industries would be far better off if they built and sold their products on their own merits. Open competition is an awesome driver of technology that is being thrown under the bus by our own govt looking for that almighty vote.

I totally agree Jim.  We would get better quality and pricing if left to real competition.  I also am not going to dismiss $$$ left out there on the table for something I would like to make my life better so it can be given to someone not willing to make ANY investment in themselves or their fellow man.  It is their rules, I am just playing by them.  I have come to realize I don't make a difference on the hill as I am not greedy enough and power hungry enough and not lazy enough.  I would rather see my earned money go to you and me and the others here that want to work for what they have, than a strung out "victim" that WON'T pull themselves away from thier 200"  big screen tv.

No enemy here. My thinking is probably wrong, and I apologize.  I just can't see more and more being stripped from us to give to someone that has been deemed entitled by a lying corrupt criminal wearing a suit and tie and claiming to be my friend while twisting a knife in my back.  (they can't use a gun, because guns are bad)

I LOVE IT, I have got to get in the habit of setting my cigar down in the ashtray before going online as it could be hazardous to my health from laughing and smoking at the same time.

Slim, how could that statement make any enemies?  I know it's a free country but how could anyone possibly disagree with your statements?  The only ones that might complain are the ones reading this on their Obamaphones!
