Put a deposit on a 2840 yesterday.
« on: April 11, 2014, 10:01:11 AM »

I put a deposit on a P&M 2840 and wanted to tell everyone on here thanks for all the help.  I would have been lost without this forum. Now to start saving money to pay the rest of it and prep the install area in a few months.

Apparently Portage & Main is making these BLs as fast as they sell them!

Great choice fellah!  8)

I'm in Tennessee. And plan on adding a greenhouse. I guess splitting wood with an ax is going to keep me in shape for years to come. Maybe the wife will let me get a log splitter down the road.

Gainerspot - Congratulations on your purchase.  I don't have a P&M, I have a Central but from what I read the P&M's are a quality unit.  You'll enjoy not having to pay out all of your hard earned money to the oil/propane dealers.  Maybe after a couple of years, with the savings from heating with wood you'll be able to afford to purchase a nice wood splitter.  As I have mentioned to others' in this forum, be polite and don't forget to wave to the oil/propane truck driver as he drives by your house to another unsuspecting victim.  Roger

I read a lot of great things about the fiskars, are they really that good?  I have never seen one nor used one.  All I used to use was a splitting mall and wedges and I'm still feeling the effects of that today in my back and neck.  The last time I ever swung anything that resembled a mall was about 30 years ago.  Other than the neck and back problems I still have nightmares because of them.  Roger
