Moving logs video; circa 1912 - 1920's
« on: December 16, 2014, 06:19:26 AM »

Hey all, I frequent another site where one of the members posted the following video of how some loggers used to move logs.  I think you'll find it interesting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSq7x6edExI&feature=youtu.be

Enjoy,

Roger

Thanks Roger, I certainly enjoyed watching it, OSHA, EPA, Lawyers and sissies certainly were not present on the job site, HARD working MEN, Ingenuity, investment and desire to get the job done were!!
Thanks again Roger!

Very cool,   They say there are still some of those old Lombards up in the Allagash. To bad, they should be in a museum.

I don't know if chainsaws were on the market back in the early 1900's.  My guess is everything was cut by 2-man crosscut saws.  If you can get a couple of guys who know what they doing, they can make some serious wood in short order.  Roger

Yes a sharp crosscut saw is really scary and can eat up some wood.
