High temperature alarm
« on: January 26, 2015, 12:01:07 PM »

Due to a recent stuck open draft door and having a small boil over, I decided to set up a high temperature alarm. This is what I came up with.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thermometer-for-Stove-Pipe-Chimney-with-Remote-Alarm-/200900534134#ht_1740wt_1153 I thought about using a barbecue thermometer like many others are using but this one has features I liked better. No batteries, and you can add a remote alarm. It is advertised as a chimney thermometer and alarm but it has a wide enough range to work on an OWB water line. They also make a wireless version with two readouts.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Thermometer-for-Stove-Pipe-Chimney-/111469890043?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item19f41f89fb#ht_1720wt_1105 Right now I have the probe attached to the copper water line before the sidearm HX. I set the high temp alarm at 195. It also has a low temp alarm if your fire gets to low.

When I buried the new Logstor to the stove I ran 3/4" conduit for my power, on the next stove I plan on having an auto fill and a high temperature sensor. Tempo gets too high it will shut the power off to the air supply and turn the sidewalk melter on, heating a sidewalk is a helluva heat sink.
