Well my 165 should be here by 10:00 in the morning, I have my fingers crossed that this one was NOT built on a Friday.

QUICK QUESTIONS

1.  Since my heat exchanger is going to be above  (2' ) above the ac a-coil will there be any chance of exchanger freeze during a/c season?

2.  What is everyone using as rust inhibitor treatment how well does it work , does it meet the warranty requirement? What water tests are require ect....

3.  Is there anything that I should know about pump placement, valve placement ect....

If you have an up draft furnace and your a/c will be blowing against your x-changer I would probably drain it.  Give wood boiler solutions a call about the chemicals to use.

Certified labs makes some great boiler treatment. It's pricey but great. 

I personally wouldnt be worried about your exchanger freezing but thats my opinion and you know what they say about those.   I'll tell ya what I'm not worried though, most of my installs are in double wides where the a coil sets above the fan and the air is pulled DOWN through the a coil, i lift up the acoil and slide in an exchanger right under the acoil, and set the acoil back down on it.  never had a problem

now.....  as far as  voiding your warranty, you'd better ask shaver.  there whole deal is sketchy, I wish you the best of luck!!!

If you have a properly functioning AC it is not possible for it to freeze. They run above the freezing point. Otherwise it would ice up and no air would go through.
If it does get low on freon it would ice up and no air flow means the cold will drop, not rise.

Mine is probably less than a couple inches above the a coil and has never been drained.

Well, well, well,   It arrived yesterday, dents in the corner trim, and door closing adjuster parts laying on delivery truck bed, and they forgot to send the thermostat upgrade. 

So I'm guessing this is about normal for a Shaver Delivery.

 I'm just hoping that the inside is built with more quality then the effort put into the doors,  they could have at least  rounded the sharp edges on the door hinges and used 3/8's bolts.  I guess I'll do those things to give the stove a finished look. 

All this said, I have the outside unit plumbed and wired (except the Thermostat they forgot to send).

Working on the fab of sheet metal for exchanger today.  Have the top piece finished and about to start the part the exchanger will sit on. 

All and all things are going together quite well.  I think I finally have everything ( no more trips to home depot I hope).lol   

Wife won't let me shut the a/c off so I can install duct mods. but I get it after sun goes down.  Buy the time I kill her a/c & shut off the water and drain the w heater she'll really be hot, literally and figuratively.

I hope you have better luck than me.  I just told Shaver about 6 hrs. ago if they dont respond to me I am getting a lawyer as I've went thru 2 stoves in 3 years.  I still haven't got a call or email.  I will say mine did somewhat do pretty well but craftsmenship was crapty.

Just finished modifying the duct work, the exchanger is mounted and the a/c is back on.  Will tackle the water heater portion  this weekend.

i am sorry to hear the bad  but am glad becouse i like thear design to poor to buy one so i started to build myown shaver but i cannot call it a shaver becouse i have been building it from you guys like the door hinges from willieg so if some one askes where did you get that one ill tell them i got it from the boiler form i could just see some smart ass trying to find the comp in the yellow pages hope this makes you feel better if at worst they pay you half you tear it down and build a good water chamber  just my though

Got the water heater portion complete (plumbing that is) still need to add the thermo & pump wiring.

To finish I still need to. 
                                     1 wire water heater pump and thermo.
                                     2 Install the digital thermo that fedex brought yesterday, to the fan & solenoid.

This won't take long, I'm just glad the plumbing and duct work went as smooth as it did.

If it's not 107 degrees our tomorrow I might test fire it.

Completed water heater wiring, just need to plug it in.  All that's left is the relay to tie in the circulation pump, and I need to pickup a 2 wire wall thermostat.   What is the thermostat of choice for the wall inside?  bi metal, mercury, or some digital?

Test fired the stove today, got water up to 103 degrees and temp coming out of house ducts was 100, that seems like good transfer...But the circulating pump seemed to be hot, taco011 was hot to touch on the motor housing fins. DOES anyone know if it is normal for the pump to be almost to hot to hold your hand on, on  the top cooling fin??
