Fire in the hole

Well here it is Sept 29 and i just couldnt bring my self to turn on the propane . Since we have some lower temps coming our way I decided to fire up the Ridgewood in lou of turning on the gas. Well everything started up just as planed. Im not sure if it was the thought of the propane or the simple fact i wanted to fire up the stove and be warm without the thought of emptying the pockets. Anyways all i can say is game on and let the fun begin.

I am holding out though.gonna be in the fifty's this weekend but then back up to the 60 and 70's.just wish the dang rain would go away!

Dam I lose. Wife walked in from work and wanted to know why it wasn't lit. "It's not cold enough" I say. Wrong. Highs in the 40's and lows in 30's this weekend!

Lite them if you got them!

I'm holding off a week or two at least.  Supposed to be near 70 next week here in Mich.  Must say I am anxious though.  Was driving home from a friends house tonight and smelled the smoke rolling out of someones stove.  Man I love that smell!  Also just hooked my DHW plate HX today and really want to see how it is going to work for me.   Patience Grasshopper.

Patience Grasshopper - I like that.  I think I have had too much of that.  I have been waiting for my foundation to get done for my addition.  I am hoping to finish that up tomorrow and then I can get to starting my trench and getting my pipe in the ground.  My wife is getting testy since I took my propane tank this summer to make way for her mothers pool that I moved to my house.  No wood stove, no propane tank= NO HEAT.  "It's o.k. honey, it's only supposed to get down into the 30's tonight."  Hopefully the forecast is right about 70's this week.     GO TIGERS

My wife has not apparently grasped the "patience grasshopper" rule.  Next thing I know she is walking around in an artic suit and fired up the propane furnace "to take the chill off"  immediately after telling me it was going to be in the 70's early next week.  Even though she is kinda cute, I am not opposed ruffling her feathers a bit.  I'm still gonna wait a while.

I'm glad I started mine! It was 33F this morning and the constant rain we got overnight turned to S**W for one hour! So the weatherman was right...this time!

House is 75F. The water coming from the DHWX is 165F delivering 145F to the taps. All is good! 

I'll leave the OWB on for about two more days as the highs will only be in the 50's Monday and Tuesday. Then I'll let her go out until the next cold spell.

Don't use propane but dad and neighbor do. Neighbor fill his tank Thursday 100 gal. over $500.00. Fired dads wood heater for him last night. Never shut down OWB this summer. Turned water to coil yesterday for heat in house. Suppose to be 30's tonight back 70's middle of week here.

Started fire in my new stove Sat evening after making the final pex crimps and filling her up with water. Dont have heat yet do to the fact I dont have the thermostat installed yet. But the wife is loving the hot water and I like knowing that I flipped 220 breaker off to my HWH ;D ;D.

Fired up the OWB today!... Everything went great..So nice not to hear the oil furnace running to heat hot water. :D..Bring on winter...

Whoa Matty, let's not get too hasty here.  I agree getting the burner up and running is way cool, but ease up a little on winter.  I prefer to look at my burner as a weapon I have in my arsenal, but hope I never HAVE to use.  I could get along just fine with it as lawn art.  Amongst green grass and chirping birds, not 18' of snow.  ;D

In a way I have to agree with Matty. When the Green Dragon is operating my daily use of Electric drops from 44 Kwh/day to 20 Kwh/day. But then again as long as it's in the 70's (F) an I don't have to operate heat or AC it good too!

(Did I really have snow 4 days ago???)
