I was wondering, the access panel on the side of the unit.  On mine this is where the pump is located and the main on/off switch.  Is it recommended to insulate this cavity or will the pump overheat?  Seems like this would leach a lot of heat when it is cold outside.  I left the insulation on the pex pipes as far up as possible, but there is still a good bit exposed.  I was thinking of putting some fiberglass batting in there.

My dealer said the pump would get too hot, but also insulated the lines.

What OWB are you referencing?

i cut a piece of 6'' pipe that allows air to pump motor, then stuffed insulation around it so no lost of heat from tank.

I have a CB 6048.

Perhaps I will insulate the lines well, and block up the hole where everything enters the cavity with insulation.  That should at least minimize airflow.  It should still get plenty from the thin metal and the door doesn't seal or anything.
