High efficiency Furnace blower low cfm

I have a high efficiency propane furnace (American Standard Freedom 95) with a water to a it heat exchanger in the plentum. I have the W wire removed on my thermostate and I can set my temp and the furnace blower will start blowing air when it calls for heat. The problem is the variable speed blower will not switch to high speed so the heat just trickles out. When the weather is mild the house stays warm, but when it gets cold my furnace can not keep up and my house won't get warmer than 62 or 63!! HELP!!!

Try moving the wire from the G terminal to the W and see if that works.

I assume you are referring to the g wire on the thermostate? Thank you for the reply RSI....I have been at a loss!

Yes.
It sounds like you disabled the gas furnace when you removed the W wire. The G wire is for the fan so if you put it on the W terminal it should run the fan when it calls for heat.

The blower still won't kick into high...its a little better than a trickle like it was..... :bash:

this is a guess...theris likely a thermometer(or mercury switch i the old days i think it was) that wont let the fan go into high until the plenum is a certain degree. I think you need to find that circuit (or wires) and tie them together?

this is just a guess but perhaps the furnace gurus that pass by can tell you proper

Does your furnace require a special thermostat? Did you try putting the green wire to the rh terminal and see if it runs fast. If it does then you can just get a cheap thermostat to replace it.

I have 4 wires going into t state. Green, yellow, white and red. I took the red off as you suggested and replaced it with the green. Nothing happened....at that point only yellow and green were connected...whit and red were removed.

No, I meant put the red and green together. This should make the fan run continuous (as long as they are together). Just suggested that to rule out the thermostat.

Does your furnace have a schematic on it? If you can post a picture of that I may have more ideas but otherwise you will need to find someone smarter than me.  ;D

LoL...thanks for the help RSI. I put them together...the fan is running but not on high. I will see if I can find a scheme to post so you can take a closer look.

My furnace is an American Standard Freedom 95 Comfort R with a variable speed blower.
