Just getting started

New to the site.  With such a wide variety of owf to choose from, it's very hard to make a decision.  However, I'd like to stay with a furnace that has support in the central va area.  That being said, wood master and central boiler are the two I can find close.  If there are others, please advise.

So, what recommendations can be made from these brands? Is a round firebox the best? Stainless steel or high carbon steel?

I'm in rural western part of Va. and lots of  heatmaster and hardy stoves in my area. Stainless vs mild steel is a battle thats yet to be won either way, boils down to what you want in your stove and what you think is best for you. People will try to sell you on the stove they have so go out and look at the stoves and make a list of likes and dislikes with each and dealer support is a must if you need help. I have a round firebox made of mild steel that works great for me, my in-laws have a central boiler with the square firebox and it works great for them, some friends down the road have hardys with the square stainless firebox and heatmasters with round stainless fireboxs that work great for them. Point is they all work just what you need/want/can afford really makes the difference.

I'm not sure what part of central Va you are located in but I sell a lot of Heat Master furnaces in the Lynchburg and Danville areas. If you are farther east I can recommend another dealer.

I have a central boiler 5036 and on my third season. I have been very happy with it . Heats the hot water and keeps the house as warm as i want it. I heat around 2800 sq feet and the house was built in 2002 and  pretty well insulated. I also heat a 600 sq ft garage thats  insulated.  :thumbup:
