remote monitoring
« on: January 31, 2014, 05:26:24 AM »

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has a set up to to remotely monitor or activate an alarm call out for their wood boilers if it overheats using a cellular system.  I understand there are products like control by web that use the internet, but is it possible to not have the internet and be able to have some kind of system that would text or call u if the temperature hit set points?  Thanks

My dad used to steam barges and they had a sensa-phone system to call them if temps dropped below or above set points.  There are plenty good posts on here about this already.  If your going to the work of having it call or text you,go all the way and use your smart phone and you continuously monitor it.  This will obviously require Internet capabilities though.  I'm no techy but the guys will flood you shortly!  Good luck!

Certainly there are solutions for what you want.  Most are not cheap, and will require an extra line on your cell plan.  What you need is something like this:
