I was all set to build a new gasifier for next heating season then I got a line on a 2 year old Eclassic 2400. Previous owners just installed it, used it one year then moved, hasn't even been used this winter as the new owners of the home don't and won't cut wood. The wife has asthma and the husband has a bad back. They plan on using the money from selling it to upgrade insulation, windows and to install a heat pump and new furnace. Asking $6800 but will be a bear to get out. Previous owners had a standalone garage built around the boiler. Would have to jack it up and place it one dollys of some sort to get it outside to lift.

From how I understand it the wives asthma is bad enough she won't even allowed it to be lit since it's in the garage. Does have antifreeze in it from what I was told.

Will the warranty transfer to me? For roughly half price is a warranty even a consideration?

Well I would say the price is definitely in the ball park compared to a new price  does that come with the underground pipe too I'm sure you could get them down a little more if you had cash in hand.

If you do move it we had to move something similar before we used a porter power to jack initially and cut a bunch of 2 inch pipe and rolled it on them and just kept moving them from front to back we had about 6 pieces just a thought for you

Didn't think about the underground pipe, not sure it's feasible to try to dig it up. Might be possible if they did a pipe in a pipe.

Would be nice to have the warranty, with my luck I can't get it transferred then have the one unit that turns out to be  stinker out of that years production.

Yeah.  I guess if there is enough of it it may be worth your time depending on your length at your house.

Not sure what the deal is on the warranty you would think as much as they cost

Should have thought of that myself, have a friend in a band and we move his portable stage using pvc pipe that way.

Info was wrong, they drained it instead of antifreeze.

I imagine a product of some kind has to be available to clean up any corrosion from sitting around empty?

(Gulp....) I hope none of my P&M brothers frequent this area.
If they are asking $6800, they'd probably take 60 hundred dollar bills, and you'd be stealing it at that price if it truly has been used only one year.
Most OWB dealers in this area have special built trailers used to move boilers. I'd bet you could hire one to move it from place to place for 3 or 4 hundred bucks(or less). They should be able to do it in a day quite easily. That would be money well spent. No liability for you.
Even if you decided not to use that unit, you could buy it and maybe make a little money off from it?
If I were thinking about buying it, I'd definitely get a hold of my local CB dealer and pay him to check the controller out. I've heard they are pricey!

I've sat here and looked at this post for awhile and can't think of anything good on a comeback right now so I guess your off the hook Marty for now   but maybe  later I can modify     but anyway.   I think it's a good buy too.       I think a new Firestar controller with the new technology for reading temps off your phone at anytime is about 5or 6 bills your right pricey.   

I would think you could fill a couple of times a take drain valves off and get a good flush and get most of scale out I think it will be fine honestly.   I guess if you can power up and make sure the panel and the blower is working before you buy would be nice to find out..

I agree with Jack, sounds like a great buy. Almost half price for a unit that has not been burned much. Firestar controller won't read right until it is filled with water. Probably just read LO, meaning water is low if it is currently drained. Find your local CB dealer for help, corrosion inhibitor and possibly something to flush it with before filling for use.

Don't worry.  There isn't any real warranty.  If your boiler fails in it's second year like mine did, they will pick it up at their convenience, take it back to the factory and repair it.  They will charge you labor and shipping back to the dealer.  Then you have to pay someone to deliver it and install it if you can't do it.  In the meantime, you don't have any heat for a couple of months.

Does sound like a good deal. as for warrenty? From what Ive seen on here its bearly useable, never mind transferable.
