Noisey blower
« on: February 28, 2015, 05:13:46 PM »

The blower motor seems to be on the way out, very noisey now. Looking for suggestions on where to find one for the 250?

Got mine changed out today, all I can say is it was a VERY good thing I did it, that motor was totally shot, how it still ran is beyond me.

Now, do you suppose I burnt more wood than needed because of the bad blower not supplying enough air?
When it gasified now it IS a jet engine, before it was a lazy flame.

Mental not for those of you about to change one, DO NOT get pi$$ed of and hit the end of that shaft with a hammer!

After cleaning the blower assembly I found they used those square drive screws to hold a piece on, think I could find my square drive bit? Heck no, so be shure to get one beforehand and keep it close by.

I shut my boiler down two weeks ago because the blower motor was going.  It will run for about 3 minutes then get real hot and shutoff.  When it cools down it will come back on until it gets hot again.  There must be some sort of thermal break in there.

Slim do you have any motors left?

I am trying to get the fan off the shaft of the motor.  I took the set screw out and it has been soaking in Aerokroil for three days and still won't come off.  Any good way to get this off?

Oops, I guess I missed this thread, Randy those screws are very common north of the border and they actually work very well, I think in the future we will see more products built with them here. JTS717 yes I do have a couple of them left but Brian owns them, is your unit still under warranty, if not you would be better served to call Rory at the office as he can ship it cheaper than I, as far as getting the old squirrel cage off, I typically will heat the collar slightly, this expands the collar and it should come right off, not to much or it swells the shaft as well. The entire unit can be ordered from Rory if you wish but you must specify you want the entire unit.

Depending on the size of the head I've flipped a extension around and used the female end to get on the set bolt and used a crescent wrench on the other end.

Enough of those square head set screws are used on the farm equipment that we bought  a set of 8 point sockets a long time ago.

Are we talking about the square drive screws?

Or the old style set screws with the square heads?

Personally I hate the ones that are supposed to be  a multi drive deal, supposed to take a standard screwdriver, a phillips or a square drive. No matter what you use seem to strip very easy.

I have much better luck driving the square drive screws than either Phillips or standard and I use impact drivers on them, of course you must have the proper tip to fit the screw.
