Wilo pumps
« on: December 06, 2019, 01:06:51 PM »

Just curious what you guys think of Wilo pumps. I've been using B&G and Grundfos. But I keep bumping into Wilos. We had trouble with some years ago and haven't considered them in quite a while. Thoughts?

Ive seen em, but Iím a creature of habit, Grundfos always served me well and still do so no need to change. I may try a Wilo in the shop, I have a taco thatís getting noisy, whoever would have guessed.

I was using Armstrong ECM pumps for a while. I had a couple of them die so I went back to Grundfos 15-58 pumps. It was the electronics on both that died. The mechanical parts of the pumps looked like they were still in perfect condition. Both were in the back of G series stoves and both stoves had two but only one died. I am wondering if it is too hot in the stove for the electronics.

Iíll give credit where its due, I have a Taco 013 Delta T pump on the G200 now, started out on the G400 in 2015, still working as of today.

The taco 0013 isn't an ecm pump, is it? I thought it was just a regular type with variable speed control.

Out of 15 or 20 of the Armstrong ecm pumps, there were just the two failures that I know of.

Not sure technically what you would call it, has a sensor on the supply and one on the return, then a dial that goes from 5-50F, I have the dial set at 20 and it speeds up or down to try and maintain a 20F Delta T.

Have not had good luck with Wilo, even on closed systems. One of our suppliers sends Wilo with all of the Lochinvar and Slant Fin boilers we buy from them, and there hasn't been a darn one lasted more than a year. Most of them die within 6 months, a handful within a week. Bearings lock up on all

We use 100+ Wilo pumps per year and they have been holding up a lot better than the Taco , in open and closed loop systems
