I have the et-73 , it works good , you tape one probe to incoming line and the other to return line , so you know stove temp and return temp. also your delta t . mine runs about 6 degrees off.  ( stove temp 176 will read 170 )

My 4400 does the same thing - Like you said, only when the fire is cooking good - It seems the sound is close to the front of unit - I think it is just a hot spot , where the fire is licking the side wall intensely in one location causing the water to boil, just in one spot.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Major Issue Help!
« on: December 14, 2013, 12:21:51 PM »
I have a W/M 440 -  last month the solenoid got stuck in the open position and I had good boil over - lucky I caught it early before I lost to much water - remove door fan cover ( 4 screws ) - manually push up solenoid , repeat over and over - see if it sticks - on mine I had turn the eyelet where spring connects to the flapper to 8- 9 o'clock . - also grease sides of solenoid .- good luck

First off - thank you for all the advise you guys gave me back in Jan. I just purchased woodmaster 440 - underground pipe is in and slab poured. should I use a pretreat solution and flush prior to putting in anti corrosive additive . I have heard flushing with vinegar first ?. any information about proper water treatment would be of great help.     Thank you  DJC
