I bought the house next door. It's small place 580 square feet with full basement. Gutted and redid it all with new drywall and floors. Use it as a party shack & man cave.

I live in eastern Ontario. Running on my 8th winter with an outdoor boiler. Simply put if you want to live in canada and heat with wood there is no easier better way to do it. Our home is cleaner. Our family is healthier because we don't have wood stored indoors. We are not breathing in fine whits dust ash particles every time you have to take ashes out. We heat 2 homes and all our hot water. Our entire home is warm. Always!! Doesn't matter if get home at 6 in the evening or 3 in the morning stumbling drunk...house is warm!! Easy to put wood in anyone can fill the furnace for u n close the door. No need to have someone going in ur home and putting wood in playing with drafts etc.

Central Boiler / Re: CB 5036 vs 6048

On my 8th winter with winter with the 5036. My closest neighbour would be 200 feet from my furnace. I have 3 lengths of chimney on my furnace. Smoke tends to go straight up from there. Have had no issues at all with smoke and less problems with the classic units compared to the gassers from what I have seen in our area. I live in a smaller subdivision and have only had once in which the smoke was hanging low and filled the neighbourhood. Lol.

Central Boiler / Re: Cycle rate??

Mine depends a lot on demand and temps outside. Heating 2200 square foot house and a 600 sq ft man cave with a basement. Usually cycles at least once every hour to hour and a half.

This will be my 8th winter. End of my 6th season noticed small bulge on left side near the back of firebox. Then a month or so later a pin hole leak started right were the pin was bulging out. Now the front one on same side has done the same. Repaired and dry now. Waiting on central boilers welder to come.

Central Boiler / 5036. Stay pin leaks!! Anyone else?
« on: November 18, 2013, 08:27:53 PM »
Hello all. Have been reading a lot of posts and don't see very many pertaining to leaks. I am going into my 8th winter with my central boiler 5036. 2 winters ago had a leak around the rear left stay pin. Now the front left side stay pin developed a leak last weekend. Dealer arranged for welder last time and I paid the welder and submitted bill to central. They mailed me a cheque within two weeks. Called dealer the other day and he said for me to arrange for the welder to come again. So I am just curious is this problem common? My dealer told me the 5036 model was prone to them. I am concerned. The welder told me last time that he hates working on the centrals because the metal is thin in the firebox?? Was hoping this unit would last my family 20 plus years. I maintain my water and use there expensive powders so wondering if anyone else experiencing this??
