I think my brushes went. I took the plate that the fan housing bolts to off, cleaned it all up nice. reinstalled the new fan assy. I think Im going to make it a every 2 year part of my maintenance, as soon as it warms up i plan to drain and back flush the system too. I think my exchanger is getting plugged. . this cold weather has been rough on the wood. need to keep everything in check for sure!

thanks for info, think i will add some vinager for now and in the spring unhook lines at exchanger and see if its plugged and if so remove to have it cleaned. I use well water and not thru a softner, but change it yearly and use additive from woodmaster. i guess over 12 years things happen

Plumbing / flushing exchanger?
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:34:03 PM »
I have been useing my woodmaster 434 for 12 years now and last two year it doesnt seem to keep up on cold night, below 10deg its hard to hit 70 in house. used to be real hot. Im wondering if my exchanger is getting plugged up, I thought about  reversing lines or unhooking and flushing with hose like a car heater core. anyone ever have this issue of plugging up?

I used a cheap autometer guage for a car, the one with a wire not the capulary tube type. mounted it at the top of my stairway to the basement with a 12v converter. and a tee in the line at exchanger for the sending unit.now I just look at the gauge and if its below 150 and I havent been out in a while I grab my coat and gloves!. cat me about 30 bucks. and its a chrome one too ;D
