everything from the switch forward was dead.. no lights, fans or controller.. if i wiggled the switch it would beep ( i had the bypass open) so after replacing the switch all is good now.

Central Boiler / E1450 Season start up wierdness
« on: October 03, 2015, 06:36:59 AM »
Hi all .. so last weeekend i figured i would fire her up after sitting for the summer months. after a Normal shutdown in march, when i went to start her up, the on/off switch ( its the switch that has a breaker in it?) had stopped working or tripped or went bad i dont know.. but anyway orderd a new one and will install and hopefully be up and running today.
Question is .... has anyone else had this hapen? the thing is only a year old so im wondering if its just a bad Mexican switch or should i be looking for something else wrong?
Nothing has changed since shutdown so im just kinda shrugging my shoulders?

i didnt do a heat xchanger just ran it direct right into my existing oil burner. altho i did have to move my circ pumps to supply side to 'push" the flow instead of pulling it through the zone. no problems at all : )

Central Boiler / Re: Great central boiler called
« on: December 09, 2014, 07:03:20 PM »
I have spoken to almost everyone at Sunshine at one point or another and they are great. I always remember something that was said to me after i got hung up on from one of my bosses years ago. " you never know what is going on on the other end of the phone so dont take it to seriously" my point being when you called Dan he could have been up to his hips in a water filled ditch trying to find and fix a leak and was a bit snippy. i have spoken to him several times and so has my wife and he was always very professional and knowledgeable . great staff there give them another try if you can

Central Boiler / Re: low water sensor replacement
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:00:53 PM »
well it took all of about 15 minutes to change out it was pretty easy .. the hardest part was getting a wrench on it in that tight space ! so the float part didnt just get stuck its missing alltogether ! i took the old one out and it was cracked lengthwise down the whole middle of it and the float is GONE. so my shoes are in the garage drying out and its all back up and running again ...whew !

Central Boiler / low water sensor replacement
« on: November 22, 2014, 09:44:26 AM »
hi all ! low water sensor went .. Guys at Sunshine Tree are awesome! called this morning and Paul said Derek was out dropping a load of wood nearby and would drop one off for me .. How great is that! in less than 2 hours He was here ! Couldnt be happier !
Now here comes the meat of my question .. when i take out the old one is water gonna pour out all over the place ? should i drain it down? i dont want to loose any water if i dont have to but i will if i have to ha ha.

« on: October 19, 2014, 06:53:27 AM »
Hi and Welcome ! I am very new as well been up and running with a E1450 only since sept. I have finally found a setting configuration that is working for us here in North Jersey .. Not that cold out yet so not much of a demand on the unit right now but i have my water at 190/180 with a pulse every 10 min for 120 seconds. i know the manual doesnt say u can do it but u can . So far havent lost a fire except for a shutdown a few weeks ago to chase down a whole different problem. i am still learning myself so take the advice here from these guys . best and most informative site out there. i had left a different one for being ridiculed for a asking a question. These guys are very smart and know their stuff!

it is entirely possible that some of it wasnt dry enough . i dont have a moisture tester but am considering getting one . Any reccomendations? My brother in law owns a tree business and i have unlimited wood and use of all his stuff so i just grab the log truck move some down and cut and split it up the conveyor and into a single axle then drive it a mile home. So this method of heating is a no brainer ha ha!
He has an older classic and thats where i first saw these things in action. This is our first season with it so most of my wood here is freshly split but has been down for years in log length piles at his place .. there is MOUNTAINS of it.. Hurricane Irene gave us plenty ! So going forward ill have alot more here split and be able to properly rotate and season it. She is still running like a beast and doing great! also i was thinking more about that screen... it shouldnt have come out that esay.. i think it may have curled back up and fallen into the top of the stack sideways and just laid there like a magnet. anyway all is good here for now and yes the more info shared the better for the whole community ! ill post some pics of the log piles it will blow your mind !

hey thanks for the info ! I just came in from outside... filthy... but couldnt wait to report that it WAS the stupid screen ! i had shut it down yesterday figuring better not do any damage till i get it sorted out so it was cool when i came home from work tonight . i had been thinking all day what i could send up the stack just to bang on the cap and see if any crud came down. Well i had some pex left over from the install so i sent it up to the cap and tap tap a whole bunch of crud came down... and as luck would have it so did the screen ha ha ! so shes all fired back up now and temps are climbing so i think i got it ! woo hoo thanks guys for the warm welcome and all the info !

thank for the replies ! yes i have been reading and reading for a few days now and im confident everything from the firebox to the inspection cover is fine.. i did the mirror test and its too dark im gonna have to wait till its light out to see all the way up. but the main reason i suspect the stack and or cap is last night i let it run with the inpection cover off and it ran like a champ all night ! so i got a buddy coming over with a bucket truck and ill scoot up there tomorrow night and get a closer look and maybe take the screen out of the cap if thats what it is .

Central Boiler / HI All !
« on: October 07, 2014, 07:25:28 PM »
Hi all ! New guy here with a e classic 1450 up and running about a month or so. Love the site and info .. great resource !
All has been great love it !
But heres where it goes south. about a week or so ago i started noticing water and a clearish brown mix running all the way down my stack (16 ft) and it was also dripping from the raincap/spark arrestor.
i figured no big deal its just condensation right ? well now its way worse .. and im getting smoke leaking from around the inspection cover and sometimes from inbetween the stacks ! the fire keeps going out ... it wont hold my high temp (190) and the reaction chamber temp is pathetic ... so i take off the cover and let it run for a few minutes and bam temp starts to go up in both water and chamber.
the cap is too far away to see clearly enuff if the screen is clogged and i havent been able to do the mirror peek up the stack yet will do this tomorrow.
anyone else see or hear anything like this ? i mean its only been a month?
