quick question
« on: October 03, 2014, 12:20:13 AM »

Can I T off from my logstor and run one line to DHW and the other to the Water to Air exchange, or does it need to be a single loop?

I have been using this formula to figure the head loss.  I cant seem to come up with any info on how to calculate for the heat exchanges.  Any info on this would be helpful.

A drawing or sketch would really help...

If you were using a FPHE, I would definately recommend put it in as a secondary loop, as they can have very high head pressures.
Since water to air exchangers have less restrictions you may be able to put in primary loop, but I have never installed a water to air exchanger, so...

I have a 20 plate DHW flat plate and a 60 plate exchanger inline and no problems.  I did install valves and bypass for problems or maintenance.  On the 20 plate I leave the bypass valve partially open so some bypass can happen and prevent back pressure.

Yes you can that how I have mine, just put a valve in the line to the dhw so you can control the flow between the two.

That will only work if you have a pump on each run.
