I am ready to add a Central 1450 this spring. One of the things that gives me pause is the price to install it. I am looking at a 50' run from the unit to the house and one question is do I need Thermopex in the house or just under ground? Next qustion is what others have paid for parts to install the unit themself?

You only need thermopex underground. It's expensive but worth it. After that about $150-300 per heat exchanger depending on your situation. And copper pipe and fittings will add up quickly.  Many different installation options. Just depends on how elaborate you want it to be, or need it to be.

My 1450 did myself 40' underground pex buy it don't skimp there $600 have two,pumps and other stuff around &1.500 fittings,domestic hot water x-change,the pad area,all done myself follow CB install very easy to follow pictures and SUNSHINE TREE N LANSCAPE IN NJ great help even with them not installing it!!

I would agree expect a budget of around $1500 give or take a few..

Thanks to all for the feedback. I would definitely use the ThermoPEX;   I am not going to lose heat by cheeping out there.  I am going to put in a 50 plate heat exchanger to tie into my two zone base board heat and my water heater that runs off my boiler. I need to find some good plans for the plumbing and save up for that. I do wish I had done this years ago but  I could not have done this then.

i didnt do a heat xchanger just ran it direct right into my existing oil burner. altho i did have to move my circ pumps to supply side to 'push" the flow instead of pulling it through the zone. no problems at all : )

Same set up I have works great I have a old oil boiler direct plumbed ups guy,the diagram is on CB website you just better keep up on your water quality test n keep it in range nobody talks about how important this is to your life  expectancy of your setup,it will rot from the inside quicker than you think!
