I just put glycol propolene antifreeze in my central boil 50/50 mix.

Has anyone had  done this and have you noticed a big difference in efficency ? I have not started it yet but just asking.

it is said that pure water (distilled) will transfer heat better than a 50/50 mix. just clean tap water may be also slightly better but we all know the water in our OWB is niether distilled or clean for very long. bits of rust and dirt that getin our systems contaminate the water andmake it less efficient at tranferring heat, but i bet no one ever complains their house "just doesn't heat like it used to"  I had the same water in y stove for 10 years (although i do add as it is needed) i never noticed my house any harder to heat. i say use your 50/50 mix and you will not notice any measurable difference in how yoru stove operates.
there may be more tecnical answers forth coming but if you think you want the safety of the antifreeze i say  YES use it

I bet your wallet is a lot lighter. Lol.
I have never done it but have been told it will lower efficiency. (use more wood)

Yes, you are right, it does lower the efficiency of the stove.

antifreeze also makes the mixture 'wetter" and results in less friction on the walls of the tank and the pipes and thus may reduce wear on your pump and what small amount you are losing in efficency and costing you "all" that extra wood may in fact be saved in electrical charges, and add years to your pumps life. ;)
