Welcome to the forum, woodisgood.

If your e-classic 2400 is anything like my e-classic 1400, you'll love the thing.  Once I understood how to operate it and set the settings for my application (with assistance from the kind folks on this forum) your home will be toasty warm.  The outside temp this morning was 20 degrees with a stiff wind and it was toasty warm in my house.  So far I've been short cycling it, meaning I service it every 12 hours.  All I've ever had to do is make sure the ashes don't get too deep and obstruct the air holes and fill the fire box about half full.  For me this approach works best but you'll have to find what works for you.

Good luck with your new purchase and don't hesitate to ask questions.  Many knowledgeable people on this forum.

IMO:  Any extra work and expense you go to during the Thermopex installation will pay off later.

Your efforts will pay off in the long run!!

johnybcold;  I had the same trouble you are experiencing when I first fire up my 1400.  It was due to leaving the setting at factory level and trying to operate it with the warmer temps.  Here are my settings;

High setpoint:  185  Blower turns off
Low setpoint:  180  Blower turns on
Pulse:  30sec. every 15 minutes.  Prevents the coals from dying out.

I  have never experienced a fire outage since I set them to these setting.  These work for me, you'll have to find what works for you but I haven't experienced any problems with these settings.  I know I'll have to revisit the settings and make adjustments as it gets colder.  The calender says it's Dec.16th; it was 49 degrees this morning.

I hope this helps.
