NH OWB Users
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:17:15 AM »

Hi folks,  I'm wondering what you guys from NH do for your supply of firewood who do not have access to a wooded lot?  I need to purchase mine via log length so I buck it up and split to what my back allows me to lift.  My trouble I'm having is finding someone whose not selling all of their logs to the processors and says to heck with the "little" guy like me trying to use wood to stay warm.  Anyone know someone from from NH, the Upper Valley area (near Dartmouth College), who sells logs by the truckload and delivers?  Thanks, Roger

I have been really fortunate to find free wood, mostly pine and hemlock that people want to get rid of. I make it known that I will take any wood that is not rotting.  Gather wood all the time wherever it can be found.

I thought of doing the samething.  I have one small problem though, no way to haul it.  All I have for wheels other than my motorcycle is a small car.

Hey Roger
I was able to find a few guys in the area that do grapples between 6-700 for 7+ cords and I also did the same as Cooch taking whatevers free. Just a suggestion but you might want to try and put a wanted ad on Craigslist for grapples in your area just a thought.

I think I have found a supplier for me.  He's less than a 3/4 of a mile down the road from me.  I never realized he's a logger.  He said up until about 11 years ago he used to be a carpenter but got laid off so he decided to learn the logging business and got going that way.  So, I called him and he said he could have an 11 cord load for me this summer for $1200.00.  That's not a bad deal and I know the guy very well.
