Too Much Water
« on: January 01, 2012, 05:06:34 PM »

Hi all.  First of all, Happy New Year to everyone.  I hope all goes well for you in your endeavors this years.

Due to being inattentive, I mistakenly added water to my boiler when I was purging air from one of my heat zones.  I forgot to close the ball valve to the outside boiler before beginning the procedure.  Wednesday morning I noticed water had overflowed from the fill tube on top of the boiler due to the ice formation on the ground near the boiler (so much ice had formed that my rake and OWB became one).  Also, I noticed it had overflowed during the night when I went outside this morning at 5:00am, but this evening at 5:00pm there was no evidence that it overflowed during the day.  What is my best course of action?  Should I somehow remove some or will it hurt anything if I leave it alone?  Your advice is always appreciated.  Thanks, Roger

Thankfully I have the day off from work today so I'll heed your advice and drain until it is at it's desired level.  I spent a small amount of time yesterday going through the manual looking for a solution and I didn't see any.  I knew I could count on someone here to help out.  Because my unit has been in service for nearly 3 months, this may be a good time to test the water and what the ph level looks like.
