Delivery
« on: February 05, 2012, 02:22:46 PM »

Well, after my recent delivery of fuel oil for my hot water needs, I'm more than ready to start looking for a tank with the built in heat exchanger to hookup to my OWB.  Man, $4.05/gal for fuel oil! :bash:  My wallet cried when he saw the fuel bill.  Roger

Hi Johnybcold,

My heating system is a 3 zone system with a 4th installed but not being used, all connected at a common manifold.  I plan on using that 4th unused zone to connect to the heat exchanger in the water tank.

I plan on checking with my local plumbing supply company to see what options I have regarding tanks with the built-in heat exchanger.

Roger,
I don't want to make any suggestions on hook up, as there is a couple ways to skin that "cat'.  Your choice on that.  But, as we said before, you can do this.  Now, get on it and keep the moths locked in your wallet!!!

Bill G,

The saddest thing that I have ever experienced, and I hope I never experience it again, was to hear my wallet cry.

I have the week off from work so along with hanging sheetrock, I'm planning on taking time to purchase and install the tank.  Other than buying the anti-scald valve, I need to get a few other items to complete the connection.

MattyNH, My Oil Co. is Irving Oil (Soon to past tense).  They pretty much have a monopoly on the market up here.  Although Rheem and Patriot Fuels are trying to make inroads but Irving pretty owns the area.  After I paid my bill and was on my way home, I made a quick detour to Central Supply, talked to guys behind the counter regarding options and they delivered it this morning.  You can bet that as soon as I have everything I need to connect it, it will be providing all the hotwater for my needs.  Roger

I use to be a Irving customer.. They are pretty expensive..Then I switched to Fred Fuller awhile back....Cheapest I could find..Fred Fuller deliver up your way? Current price $3.79..Thank God for the OWB..This past summer I filled up at $3.39..Only use the oil for hot water in the summer..Oil man won't show up until sometime fall of 2013

We do not have Fred Fuller up here.  Even the competitors are around the same price for oil up here.  You gotta remember we're near a college town and everything's a bit more expensive to live up here.  And, I agree, thank God for the OWB.  Like you, I'll use the oil only in the summer time to heat my water.   But, I'm thinking of investing in a solar hookup for the summer time heat needs.  That will have to wait for a few years.  Roger

What about a electric water heater? Everyone tells me go that way just for summer months..Yeah I can see that a bit more expensive to live by college town...What gets me..Towns around the UNH area has the cheapest gas prices esp Newmarket..

Roger,
I too thought of a solar assist for hot water in the summer.  Got any ideas on what it would require?  Just started thinking about it, so it would be in a "hmmmm, wonder if that would work" stage.

Oldchenowth:  I know there are kits on the market where everything you need, including the tank is ready for you.  All you have to do is install it and hope it works for you.  As soon as I find the website again, I'll post it for everyone.
