Wood gas truck
« on: February 11, 2012, 07:58:26 PM »

So I was watching Doomsday Preppers on the National Geographic Channel..Guy had a CB outdoor wood boiler.. Heated his house with it and also a  made dehumidifier to make beef jerky.. Using the hot water from the OWB..Pretty neat set up..What got me..He has a  truck that runs 100% off of wood gas.. Had some kind of set up in the back of the bed of the truck..Piped the wood gas to the intake of the engine...Pretty neat..Anyone out there ever hear of wood gas power? I googled it..Theres some you tube videos on the wood gas truck

I have seen this. It's way cool. I have seen people with a smoker that runs a generator. Have thought of trying this.

I have heard it was fairly common in Europe just after WW2.  Probably not real effecient or a whole lot of power but as they say 4th class driving beats 1st class walking.

i think i read somewhere that wood gas would deliver about 1/10 the power of gasoline. it was used during WW2 but was quickly forgotten once the war was over and gasoline was again abundant.

if youwant to use wood gas i suggest you start planting trees now (you all ready should be if you are burning wood)

This past summer my son and I went to the hog roast that the Forestry Forum puts on every year up in Harrison Mi and seen the '60(?) Ford that Ron and his family drove up in from Indiana. Man was that cool! I talked his ear off. They talk about it(producers gas) and other alternative energy sources over there(Forestry Forum) quite often. If you visit there, search for Ron57 and his posts will pop up. He is a very intelligent man. His truck is actually a wood gas/gasoline hybrid.
